One of the effects of overeating can be obesity. Obesity is a medical condition where a person has a body mass index of 30 and above. Over the years, the percentage of people who are obese has been rising. All over the world obesity is the most prevalent nutritional disorder among children and adolescents. In this article we will tackle the different effects of being obese. These effects are not true for everyone. They are just examples of what might happen to an obese person.

People who are obese might develop low self-esteem. They may prefer to be alone because they feel that they are being scrutinized because of their obesity. This happens because some people tend to be insensitive and degrading to people who are obese. Some obese people tend to have wild fluctuations of self-esteem. They develop different moods. There are times that they seem invulnerable while at other times they will feel depressed and embarrassed to face the world.

People who are obese have a hard time finding clothes that will fit. If you are able to extend your budget, you can buy clothes from special stores that offer large sizes. This can embarrass some people because they can’t shop in stores that don’t offer their size. Even if they like a certain dress, they are not able to buy it because of the limited sizes.

Obesity is often associated with chronic fatigue syndrome. The vitality of someone with this syndrome is lowered, and this affects their ability to move. It may also affect their mental alertness. When they exercise, they feel tired and exhausted even if they only did a little bit.

Individuals who are fat may develop chronic conditions that require them to have medical treatment. They experience back problems associated with their inability to stretch and support their body eight. They might not want to consult a doctor thinking that they will be lectured about their diet and daily activities.

People used to think that being fat is healthy, but that is not the case. Medical problems develop gradually in obese people and can become life-threatening. Diabetes is the most common disease diagnosed in obese individuals. People who have diabetes are more prone to heart disease and weight gain. Liver disease develops when they take medication for other health problems they develop. Sleep disorders is associated with obesity, due to the excess body mass constricting the airway.

Obesity is very common in women too and it can affect one’s fertility and pregnancy. Being obese reduces ovulation and creates a low response rate to fertility treatments. Birth defects and pregnancy hypertension can develop in a pregnant woman who is suffering from obesity. Such women can also experience post-pregnancy complications.

So you see that obesity can cause a person a reduction in their happiness and quality of life. They can acquire diseases that affect their health and decreases their life expectancy. It is one of the worst effects of overeating.
